Meet Dr. Bruce Sexton
I have lived and practiced dentistry in Wayland, Michigan since 1984. I moved here after graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in 1980 and with my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UM’s School of Dentistry in 1984.
With a true love for small-town living, I have enjoyed being an active member and supporter of the Wayland community as part of the Wayland Planning Commission, the Wayland City Council, the Wayland Lions Club, the Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wayland Union Education Foundation. I am also a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the West Michigan Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my wife and deer hunting. Put me in the woods with my bow in the fall and I am a happy guy. I am a huge fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Grand Rapids Griffins. Plus, I’ve spent my entire life being disappointed by the Detroit Lions. My wife Sara and I have been married since 1989 and have a blended family of four adult children, Nick, Emily, Michelle, and Jeremy. We currently have three grandchildren and two great grandchildren who keep us endlessly entertained, grateful, and busy!
Meet the Team
Dental Hygienist
A Kalamazoo local and graduate of KVCC with an associate’s degree in dental hygiene, I’ve been a member of Dr. Sexton’s team since 1994. I love meeting new patients, introducing them to the latest dental technology, and nurturing long-term relationships with my patients. In my free time, I enjoy reading, studying the Bible, exercising, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, visiting Lake Michigan beaches, and spending time with my three adult children.
Dental Hygienist
I graduated from GRCC in both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene. I started my awesome journey at Dr. Sexton’s office in 2007 as a Registered Dental Hygienist and I couldn’t be happier! Four days a week I strive to give the best dental treatment possible, form lasting relationships and to have fun! I live in Byron Center with my husband Mike, our golden retriever Lola and an orange tabby named Cooper. I have 2 beautiful daughters in their twenties Grace and Kenzi. In my free time, I can most likely be found at Sandy Pines floating on the lake or golfing.
Office Coordinator
I have been a part of the business team since 1991. I love the family atmosphere in the office and all the opportunities to learn new things. I will assist you with any questions you have on your treatment, insurance benefits, and selecting the best financing option to fit your budget. I live in Caledonia with my husband, Jeremy where we raised our 2 daughters. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Financial Coordinator
I officially became a part of Dr. Sexton’s team in December of 2013. Unofficially, I have been around the office for a long time as Dr. Sexton’s trophy wife since 1989. I have 4 grown children, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grand daughters, 2 dogs of my own and at least 7 grand dogs. I have lived in Wayland most of my life and enjoy the sense of community that is personified in a small town like Wayland. I love to travel, read, listen to audiobooks and remodel our home room by room in an endless circle! Without a doubt, my favorite pastime is haunting any kind of thrift store for treasures I didn’t know I needed…at a bargain!
Patient Financial Coordinator
I graduated in 2013 with my degree in Medical Office Management where I was on the President’s list, National Honor Society and graduated in the top of my class. I have worked at a few other medical/dental facilities over the past 15 years and joined Dr. Sexton’s team in 2014, where I finally feel I am “home”. I am excited to be working in the community where I live. I have experience in medical and dental claims, insurance and billing. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have with your insurance policy, treatment, and billing.
I have lived in the Wayland area with my husband and two children since 2000. In my spare time I enjoy camping with my family and friends, revamping old furniture, and crafts with my daughter.
Dental Assistant
I have been a part of Dr. Sexton’s team since 2007. As a dental Assistant, I focus on making your visits here quick, comfortable, and efficient. If you have any questions about your visit, I can provide you with all the information you need to understand every phase of your treatment. I also look forward to meeting our new patients and assisting the Hygienists with your first appointment to our office. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my husband Blake and our 2 boys, Wyatt and Colt. In summer I spend as much time as I can at our family’s cottage on Lake Michigan and camping anywhere and everywhere. When it is cold outside, you can find me next to the fire with a good book.
Dental Hygienist
I graduated as a hygienist from GRCC in 2007. I’ve worked in several different types of dental offices including general practices, a clinic setting and as a substitute dental hygienist all over West Michigan. I’m very excited to be a part of Dr. Sexton’s team and I will be in the office on Monday and Wednesday.
I love being a Dental Hygienist! My favorite aspect of my career is getting to know my patients. I enjoy hearing about their families, hobbies and the day-to-day happenings in their lives. My patients teach me so much and I get to teach them and help them stay healthy in many ways. As a hygienist I also enjoy continuing education classes and wearing comfy scrubs to work.
Outside of work you will find me spending time with my kids, Grayson 16 and Avery 3. I enjoy gardening, cooking and running.
Dental Assistant
I am a Wayland Union High School alumni and I started working with Dr. Sexton in June of 2004 after finishing Dental Assistant training at Olympia Career Training Institute. After taking a couple year break to pursue other endeavors, I returned as a part-time dental assistant in 2017. My favorite part of my job is the people. I love helping people feel comfortable at their dental visits and I love the team I work with! When not at work I enjoy spending time with my son Domanik, boyfriend Kyle, and our 4 cats, Zeus, Hero, Vinny, and Monster. I love painting, glass bead jewelry making, wire wrapping stones, polishing stones and tooling leather to make cuff bracelets.
Clinical Coordinator
Hi, I'm Kenzi! I started working at the office in June 2020 to help out post COVID shutdown. I work in the clinic assisting the hygienist so we can all run efficiently. In my down time I hang out with my boyfriend of 5 years, Jared, and we enjoy fancy coffee and vacations. I'm also taking classes at GRCC but not sure what I’m pursuing quite yet. I know you will enjoy this office as much as I do!
New Patient & Clinical Coordinator
I joined the Bruce Sexton DDS team in December 2016 as the scheduling coordinator. After several years of being the voice you would most often hear on the phone, I transitioned roles to become the clinical coordinator in 2020. I am also our lead new patient coordinator and working with new patients is the absolute best part of my day! I enjoy working with people and feel blessed to work with a hard working, driven, and passionate team of professionals everyday. As a previous student of Wayland Union schools, I am excited to be working within my hometown community again. When I am not at the office you will find me spending time with my son, Collyn, & friends and family. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, playing with our coonhounds, Sadie and Marlee, and exploring beaches. I also enjoy reading, whole food cooking, live music, and group fitness classes.
Scheduling Coordinator
I joined Dr. Bruce Sexton's team in February of 2020. I grew up in the Wayland area and graduated from Wayland Union High School. After graduating high school, I went on to be a Cosmetologist. After a long and very rewarding career, I decided to close that chapter and head in a new direction to try something new. I am excited to be a part of such a fun hardworking dental team and serve the community in a different atmosphere. As the scheduling coordinator, I am here to keep our schedule organized and efficient to allow us to service your needs in a prompt manner. I am one of the many voices you may hear when calling our office and I am happy to help answer any questions you might have. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years. We have three beautiful daughters and a Chihuahua named Gizzy. We enjoy taking day trips around this beautiful state, especially the lake shore. We love spending as much time outdoors as we can, whether it be a hiking adventure or just sitting around a bonfire with friends, its always a great time!
Dental Assistant
I’m one of Dr. Sexton’s new assistants, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this team. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be in the medical field to be able to help people, so I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity. I graduated from Byron Center High School in 2018 and I’m now majoring in Spanish at Grand Valley State University. I spend most of my free time with my friends, and I love animals!
Dental Hygienist
I joined Dr. Sexton’s team in 2017 after graduating with a degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University. My favorite part of being a dental hygienist is helping patients keep their smiles beautiful and healthy. I am married to a dedicated teacher, Brody, and we have two very affectionate dogs, Rafiki and Bentley. I love spending time with my family, friends, and dogs. Other hobbies include gardening, reading, going to the lake, and disc golfing.
Dental Assistant and Business Coordinator
I am a Wayland High School alumni and that is where I met my husband Ayden. We now have 3 crazy kids Hudson, Marlowe and Brewer, as well as a handful of animals including dogs, chickens, and a kitten. I graduated from Davenport University in 2012 and have since been working in different dental care offices such as general practice, clinics, and oral surgeons. I just recently joined Dr. Sexton and his team and cannot be more excited.
When I have free time I enjoy being outside with my family as long as the weather is decent. We enjoy camping, golfing, taking the kids to try new and fun things, and finding projects for me (my husband) to do around the house.

New Patient Coordinator
I joined Dr. Sexton's team in July of 2022. I enjoyed growing up in the amazing small community, graduating from Wayland Union High School. I began working in the medical field as a medical assistant in 2006 specializing in podiatry. I am excited and blessed to join this amazing dental team. My favorite part of the day is meeting patients and learning how I can help them to improve their smiles.
Currently, I live in Dorr, with my husband Mark and our three children, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Kenneth. We enjoy watching our kids play softball, baseball, football, and basketball. We also love taking weekend adventures around the beautiful state of Michigan. Go Green!
